Joanne F. Horst

Joanne F. Horst, age 76, of Shippensburg, passed away Saturday morning, April 29, 2023 at her home. She was born Thursday, August 15, 1946 in Chambersburg, the daughter of the late Paul J. and Lista M. (Frey) Martin.

Joanne was a homemaker, raising her five children. She was a member of Rowe Mennonite Church. She volunteered at Christian Aid Ministries in Newville for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John R. Horst. She is also survived by three daughters, Jena R. and husband Tim A. Rutter, Janette A. Horst, and Julie R. Horst, all of Shippensburg, two sons, John Allen Horst (companion Trisha Prosser) of Walnut Bottom, and Jeremy P. and wife Martina Horst of Mercersburg, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Wilma Wadel (Dale) of Shippensburg, Jenny Martin (Lyle) of FL, and three brothers: Wayne Martin (Carolyn), Lee Martin (Sue), and Dennis Martin all of Shippensburg. She was preceded in death by her sister Doreen Horst (Jere) and a brother Lester Martin (Esther).

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 3, at Rowe Mennonite Church, 754 Pinola Road, Shippensburg, with the Church Ministry officiating. Interment will be in Rowe Mennonite Cemetery. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, May 2 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and then on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until time of services.
