Joel E. Dugan, longtime resident of Brighton, Michigan died on February 7, 2016, in Fenton, Michigan. He was born in Bendersville on March 24, 1938, the son of Maurice and Marvel Dugan. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna Mae Ogden Dugan; daughters, Stephanie Bajorek (Dan), Colleen Carey (Paul); grandchildren, Katie Bajorek, Tim Bajorek, Anna Bajorek, Nick Carey, and Connor Carey. His brother, Lee Dugan (Shelvey) survives. His sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Dean Carey are pre-deceased. Nieces, Juanita Guise (Ken), Debbie Wetzel (Joe), Nephews, Dr. Philip Carey and Allen Dugan (Kitty) also survive. Joel graduated from Biglerville High School, Biglerville, PA, in 1956 and the Agricultural Engineering Program at Pennsylvania State University, in 1958. He was a member of the 28th Division Pennsylvania National Guard. He was employed by International Harvester for 20 years as a heavy equipment salesman. In 1981 he established Joel Dugan Lawn and Snow, which continues until the present time. He managed the landscaping needs for many folks in Southfield, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, and Brighton, many of whom became his good friends. He loved Morgan Horses, golden retrievers, and Labrador retrievers. Gardening was a lifelong hobby. He also enjoyed hunting as a young man, kayaking and bicycling. He was an avid practical jokester and loved nothing better. Visitation will be held at Lynch Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main Street, Brighton, MI on Tuesday, February 9 from 3:00 - 9:00 PM. Mass of the Resurrection from St. Patrick Parish, 711 Rickett Road. Brighton on Wednesday at 1:00 PM with gathering beginning the hour prior. Lunch will follow in Church fellowship hall. On Saturday, February 13, services will continue at Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville, with Pastor B. Wesley Smith III officiating. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Bendersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Patrick Parish or to Heartland Hospice, 412 Phoenix Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
