Johanne Thompson

October 18, 1932 — November 7, 2021

Our mom, Johanne Thompson went to her home in glory on Nov 7, 2021. She is being reunited with a host of family and friends that have gone before her whom she greatly loved and admired. Mom often spoke of her heritage in the Lord namely grandmother Clara Teare Williams who wrote the hymn SATISFIED and her parents H.C. and Beulah McKinney who were full-time ministers of the gospel. Our mother grew up in Bellevue Pittsburgh Pa. She attended Houghton Bible College and met dad, Paul Thompson. Mom loved to cook and sew and took these talents very seriously. She was usually in charge of the church dinners in her younger years. She always insisted that the celery sticks had to be chopped precisely and meals be served hot and promptly. She proudly clothed all of her 5 children by her hand. John, Joel (deceased 1990), Rebecca, Nathan and Amy. Many of her quilted artworks are still proudly displayed in her cottage home and will last as a tribute to her handiwork. Raising us on the farm taught us all about growing our own food and appreciating nature. She has seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her sincere love of the Lord and the word of God has helped people with her wisdom and prayers. Her sister Rachel is the last surviving McKinney of that generation and has always been a faithful support to the family. After retirement, the folks moved to Shippensburg where Johanne was always a strong support to her church family. She was often seen sitting in the kitchen busily helping and giving an encouraging word. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or The Oasis Of Love Training Center in Ghana, West Africa.
