John C. Bowmaster

John C. Bowmaster, age79 ofAspers,passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015, with his wife by his side. He was born Sunday, June 21, 1936 in Gettysburg, the son of the late CharlesC. and Ruth N. (Nintle) Bowmaster. John was a great husband, father and an outstanding grandfather. He was a builder for most of his life and later was a rural mail carrier until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed working on his farm, especially with his animals. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming with his grandson Kyle. He was a member of Benders Lutheran Church, Life member of the Cashtown Fire Company, past President of the Builders Association of Adams County, the Hanover Elks Club, Biglerville American Legion Post 262, Cumberland Cooperative Sheep and Wool Producers, National Rural Letter Carriers Association, the NRA, the Auxillary of the Retired Pennsylvania State Police, Adams County Fish and Game, Arnot Sportmans Club, and Camp Savage of Tioga County. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer. He is survived by his wife, Sheila F. (Kime) Bowmaster, daughter Sherry M. (Roger) Hess, two grandchildren, Kyle G. and Hope E. Hess, two sisters, Verna B.(Wayne) Reedy and Mary B. Walter, four nieces, Rhonda Murdock, Anita Hostetter, Megan Steinberger and Devin Kime, and six nephews, Wesley Bowmaster, Rick Reedy, Darryland Dennis Bucher and James and Douglas Izer. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Helen N. Izer. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Benders Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1385 Rentzel Road, Biglerville, PA 17036 with Reverend Susan McCarthy officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Benders Union Cemetery.
