John R. Diehl, III, age 69 of Mount Holly Springs, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at UPMC Carlisle. He was born Wednesday, August 3, 1949 in Gettysburg, the son of the late John Roy and Elsie (Streaker) Diehl. John graduated from Bermudian Springs High School in 1968. He earned his BS in Business Administration in 1984 from Messiah College. He also had an Associates Degree in Fire Science Technology from HACC, which he earned in 1979. He was employed by Cumberland-Goodwill EMS in Carlisle for 10 years. He had also worked for West Shore EMS. Prior to his EMS service, he retired from Harleysville Insurance Company as a fire protection specialist. He was a member of Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church. He was also a life member York Springs Fire Company. He loved history, especially the Civil War Era. He enjoyed watching the TV show Emergency and collecting fire extinguishers. He is survived by his wife, Carol L. (Motter) Diehl, whom he married on August 27, 1977. He is also survived by a daughter, Stacy Diehl-Durham and husband Eric of Mount Holly Springs. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 9, at Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, 202 W. Butler Street, Mt. Holly Springs with Reverend Ed Alwine officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, 202 W. Butler Street, Mt. Holly Springs, PA. 17065.
