John A. Eckrich, Jr.

John A. Eckrich, Jr., age 96 of Shippensburg passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 at the Green Ridge Village, Newville, PA. He was born December 25, 1925 in Progress, PA to the late John A. Eckrich, Sr. and Iva Maude Mildred (Schwab) Eckrich.

John was a WWII Veteran of the US Army and was awarded the Purple Heart, WWII Victory Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Battle Stars and the American Campaign Medal. He was owner of the former Eckrich Antiques in Shippensburg for 25 years. John was a member of the Shippensburg VFW Post 6168 and the Shippensburg American Legion Post 223. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, music, dancing and traveling to the casino with his wife Margaret.

Surviving is his wife of 75 years, Margaret M. (Kelly) Eckrich, Newville; three sons, John A, Eckrich, III of Jacksonville, FL, Lester E. Rockey and his wife Cathy of Swanton, VT, Terry D. Eckrich and his wife Maria of Shippensburg, three daughters, Deborah L. Crusey, Chambersburg, Linda K. Perry and her husband Tim of Shippensburg, Susan M. Ott and her husband Eric, also of Shippensburg, 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and his sister, Peggy A. Rider of Endicott, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ronald L. Eckrich, three sisters, Madelyn Sadler, Iva Jane Louise Moore and Donna Jean Ronan, and his brother Harry C. Eckrich.

Professional Services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. A Public Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 16 from 12:00 PM until time of service at 1:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257. A Procession will take place to Parklawns Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum where the Shippensburg American Legion Post 223 Minutemen will provide Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of John to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
