John H. Rideout, Jr., age 92 of Shippensburg, died Friday, September 21, 2012 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born Thursday, August 26, 1920 in Shippensburg, the son of the late John H. and Alice G. (Robinson) Rideout, Sr. John graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1939. He attended Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He owned and operated J.H. Rideout and Sons building maintenance for 54 years. He was formerly employed at Letterkenny Army Depot in the 1940s and 1950s. He was a Jehovah's Witness for 55 years. John served in the U.S. Army Aircorp during World War II. He is survived by his wife, EllaMae (Napper) Rideout to whom he was married for 64 years and 9 months.He is also survived by two sons: Marc J. Rideout, Sr. and Stephen A. Rideout, both of Shippensburg; brother, Wayne F. Rideout of Carlisle; sister, Alice C. Young of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren: Colleen Nelson of Delaware, Justin Rideout of Shippensburg, Marc J. Rideout, Jr. of Shippensburg and Stephen (Beev) A. Rideout, II of Middletown; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Marcaa J. Rideout, two brothers, Robert and Richard Rideout and a sister, Catherine Elizabeth Williams. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 20 at 1:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Shippensburg.
