John �Jack� Edward Emanuel, Sr.

John "Jack" Edward Emanuel Sr., 86, of Aspers died on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Eagleville Hospital in Eagleville, PA. He was born on Wednesday, November 5, 1924 in Coatesville, PA the son of the late D. Victor and Lillian M. (McClain) Emanuel. Jack was the widower of Helen Louise (Bennett) Emanuel who he married in November of 1950. Jack graduated from the former William Penn High School in Harrisburg as part of the class of 1943 after which he graduated from Shippensburg Teacher's College. Jack first taught in Carlisle High School and then at Camp Curtain Junior High School. During that time, Jack served as the assistant football coach at both Bishop McDevitt and William Penn High Schools. Later, he took a position at Biglerville High School where he taught science and coached football and track until his retirement. Jack was a member of the South Central/Adams County Hall of Fame. He was a Charter Member of the Central Penn Track Officials Organization. He was a member of the American Legion Post 262 and the National Apple Museum both in Biglerville. Jack was always proud to be a Marine Veteran who served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Jack is survived by his four loving sons: Daniel Emanuel of Mechanicsburg, John Emanuel, Jr. of Camp Hill, Michael Emanuel of Harrisburg and William Emanuel of Aspers; a grandson, Cody Emanuel of Dillsburg; and two granddaughters: Jessica Spotswood of Washington DC and Amber Emanuel of Biglerville. In addition to his loving wife, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel "Danny" Victor Emanuel. All are welcome to join Jack's family at his viewing on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, from 5:00 to 8:00 at Dugan Funeral Home in Bendersville. Jack's funeral service and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family with Celebrant Bob Schellenberg officiating. Burial will be in Biglerville Cemetery where military honors will be presented by the Adams County Allied Veteran's Honor Guard.
