John Kenneth (Kenneth) Barbour, age 87, of Gardners died Friday, September 9, 2011 at Gettysburg Lutheran Home. He was born Tuesday, August 19, 1924 in Arendtsville, the son of the late Sterling (Pete) and Ruth (Raffensperger) Barbour. John attended Arendtsville Vocational School. John began farming with his father at an early age.He worked most of his life for Crestmont Orchards. He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Goodyear where served on church council and the property committee for many years, a member of Biglerville Historical Society and he volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Upper Adams. He is survived by his wife, the former Virginia M. McCarthy, to whom he was married for 61 years. He is also survived by a daughter, Kathy C. Prosser of Camp Hill; a son, James S. Barbour, Gardners; one grandson, James Prosser and his fianc� Becky Hess of Gettysburg;one great-granddaughter, Taylor; a sister, Ida Staub of Biglerville; and an uncle, John Raffensperger of Gettysburg. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cameron Barbour and H. William Barbour, and a sister, Dorothy Warren. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 13, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 4200 Carlisle Road, Gardners, with the Rev. Douglas Y. Boden officiating.Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until time of services. Honored to be pallbearers are: Larry Barbour, Matt Barbour, Randy Barbour, Rob Cline, Bud Koontz, Forest Staub, Wes Staub and Dean Tate. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
