John "Jack" A. Leeti

May 14, 1926 — November 16, 2024

On November 16, 2024 John “Jack” Leeti passed peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 98. Jack was born on May 14, 1926 in Kokomo, Indiana to Raymond and Marie (Beam) Leeti. As a child growing up during the Great Depression, Jack understood the value of a strong work ethic. Throughout school he worked as a paperboy, store clerk, theatre attendant, and part-time office worker.

After high school he was drafted into the U.S. Navy where he proudly served as a 3rd class radio man during World War II. It was during his time in the Navy that he first laid eyes on the love of his life, Betty, at a USO dance. After getting married in 1947, they built their life together in Biglerville, Pennsylvania where Jack earned his BA in Economics from Gettysburg College. After graduation he spent over 50 years at Knouse Foods as an accountant, Treasurer, and Vice President. Ever the people person, Jack couldn’t help but make friends everywhere he went and he made it a point to get to know as many people as possible throughout the entire company.

Jack and Betty spent 72 years of marriage dancing through life as they traveled the world, served God at St. Paul and St. Luke Lutheran Churches, volunteered within the community, and built memories with their friends and family. They enjoyed their retirement years at SpiriTrust where Jack always had a smile and kind words for staff and residents. He was a dedicated husband who always put the needs of his family first. As Betty’s health began to decline, he faithfully sat by her side every day showering her with love and care. Theirs is the type of love so many can only dream about.

Jack was a family man to his core. He always made time for them and never missed an event for his son or granddaughters as they were growing up. In recent years, he enjoyed the simple things that brought him closer to his family; breakfast with his daughter-in-law, dinner with his son, a walk outside with his granddaughters, and playing with his great-grandchildren. Everything he did, he did with love and it is clear looking at the admiration in his family’s eyes just how much they loved him, too.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Leeti (Sheely), brother, Robert Leeti, and sister, Helen Smith. He is survived by his son Alan Leeti, daughter-in-law Judy Leeti of Gettysburg, grandchildren, Sara Warrick and husband David of Biglerville, Alana McMaster and husband Greg of Fairfield, great-grandchildren, Jackson, Ella, and Alexis Warrick, nephew Steven Sheely of Baltimore and nieces Deb Conn and Linda DiNatale both of Florida.

Jack was truly one of a kind. He loved learning about people and the world around him. He had a way of making a connection with everyone he met and always saw the best in people. The world would be a better place with more people like Jack. His family encourages you to honor his memory by doing something kind for someone today.
