John H. Lynch, Jr.

John H. Lynch, Jr., age 75 of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born Friday, September 19, 1941 in Shippensburg, the son of the late John H. and Virgie M. (Russell) Lynch, Sr. He was a member of South Mountain Chapel. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed hunting wild mushrooms. He was a very caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, country music, wrestling and old western movies. John also enjoyed gathering scrap metal from local farmers. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Whitzel) of 56 years. He is also survived by daughters, Anita J. Kirby and fianc�Charlie Lindsey of Chambersburg, Sonja "Boo" A. and husband Luther S. Karper, Sr.of Shippensburg, sons, John H. "Sam" and wife Tracy L. (Russell) Lynch, III of Shippensburg, Tony L. and wife Kimberly (Fahnestock) Lynch, Sr. of Shippensburg, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four sisters, one brother, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vesta Adams and Grace Shannon and a son-in-law, Kyle Dean Kirby. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 13 at 11:00 AM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Pastor David Erisman officiating. Interment will be in Cleversburg Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 12 and on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society online at cancer.org/givehope.
