John Reginald Young

John Reginald Young, age 94 of Newville, formerly of Fairfax, Virginia, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born Wednesday, June 26, 1918 in Nottingham, England, the son of the late John W. and Florence (Rabson) Young. John earned a BFA from the University of London, England and completed additional studies at India's Bombay University. John was a teacher in the Fairfax County Adult Education Program for 41 years.His credentials include a Certified Copyist at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., Past President of the Vienna Art Society, member of the Springfield Art Guild; a juror at a number of art shows in Washington, Northern Virginia and West Virginia and a designer of a poster for Harper's Ferry and Manassas. He served in the British Army and then the British Navy during WWII, serving in India and Southeast Asia. He is survived by one son, Michael H. Young of Newville and grandson, Christopher Young, also of Newville. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 31 at 1:30 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory,51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Father David Hillier officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 417 Phoenix Drive, Suite A, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
