Joseph L. Cicierski, Jr., age 74 of Lewes, DE, formerly of York Springs, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home. He was born Wednesday, February 26, 1941 in Elizabeth, NJ the son of the late Joseph L. and Anna M. (Pierozak) Cicierski, Sr. Joseph graduated from Biglerville High School in 1959. During that time, he lettered in football and basketball. He played semi-pro football for the Cumberland Colts and the Harrisburg Patriots. He was formerly employed by R.S. Mowery in Carlisle as a project superintendent. He was responsible for over 30 commercial projects, which included schools, hospitals, and industrial buildings during his 30 year employ. He was a member of Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Mechanicsburg, Carpenter Local 191 of York and the Harrisburg Carpenters Union. He was an avid angler and hunter. He was happiest as captain of his boat heading out of Indian River Inlet for deep-sea fishing. He was a sports fan and delighted in any victory of the New York Yankees and Notre Dame Football and Dale Earnhardt and Dale Junior wins. He served in the Air Force Reserves from 1962 to 1968. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, June N. (Griest) Cicierski. He is also survived by a daughter, Jill A. Cicierski of Lewes, DE, a son, Jeffrey L. and wife Wendy Cicierski of Billings, MT, five grandchildren, Wade, Madison, Brooke Cicierski and Cora and Jillian McMillan and one sister Joanna Ritchie of Chestnut Ridge, NY. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 24 at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Derek Wadlington officiating. A viewing will be held at Dugan Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Interment will be private in Presbyterian Cemetery in York Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Boulevard, Millsboro, DE 19966.
