Joseph L. Showers

Joseph L. Showers, age 94 of Biglerville, passed away January 29, 2026 at Hanover Hospital. He was born January 27, 1932 in Adams County to the late Edgar C. and Ruth A. (Wingert) Showers. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne M. (Miller) Showers and brothers, Reuben C. Showers, Dale Showers, William Showers and sister, Rosellen Miller.

He is survived by his children; Kathy Jo (Larry) Sassaman, Diane Kay (George) Taughinbaugh, Jennifer Lynn (Robert) Uber and Joseph Andrew (Sheila) Showers; 8 grandchildren: Kristin, Andrew, Ashton, Tyrel, Mallory, Grant, Dayne, Denton, their spouses and 8 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by his sisters, Marie Helm and Dora Sandoe.

He was a surveyor for PennDot, a US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict, a member of Benders Lutheran Church and the Ira E. Lady Post 262 American Legion. Joseph enjoyed bowling, softball and loved coaching softball.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville, where the viewing will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 6 to 8pm. A funeral service will be held at Benders Lutheran Church, 1385 Rentzel Road, Biglerville, PA on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 11am. Rev. Ryan Heycock will officiate. Additional viewing will be held from 10am until the time of the funeral service at the church. Joseph will be laid to rest at Benders Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans Ritual Team.
