Josephine L Meledandri of Carlisle, PA, went to her eternal Home on December 8, 2009. Born in 1930 to Theresa Serene and Emil Marziale, she resided in New Kensington, PA until 1986. She worked for the New Ken-Arnold School District as a teacher's aide and secretary. She especially enjoyed her 10-year work with special education students. She also worked at Comcast Cable and various department stores. In Carlisle, she was employed at the Embers Convention Center and the Bon-Ton. Josephine was a gifted oil painter, who also enjoyed crafts, baking, and gardening. She had a lifetime love of animals, especially dogs, and of opera and Broadway theater. She endured many challenges with grace and dignity. She touched multiple lives with a legacy of self-sacrificing love and creativity. She will be remembered as an exceptionally devout mother and friend, who leaves us with countless, rich memories. She is survived by three children: Tama Carey, Lenny Meledandri, and Wayne Meledandri, and a sister, Rita Bender, and many close friends and admirers. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Marie Nemet. The Josephine Meledandri Scholarship Fund (c/o 23 Carter Pl, Carlisle, PA 17013) has been established to support students of special education, art, or animal care. A Memorial Concert will be given on May 15, 2010, at 3:00pm at the Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Rd, Carlisle, PA. Arrangements were handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Bendersville.
