Joyce L. Bartholow

Joyce Lynn Bartholow, age 68 of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 surrounded by her family at her home. She was born Thursday, January 11, 1951 in Bedford, the daughter of the late Ernest “Jack” and Doris P. (McCleaf) Stayer. Joyce graduated from Bedford High School. She most recently worked as a House Parent for Scotland School of Veterans Children for eight years. She was a member of United Church of Christ, VFW Lady’s Auxiliary and American Legion in Shippensburg. In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed travelling across the U.S. and internationally with John, boating and water skiing at Lake Raystown and feeding wildlife at her and John’s cabin. She was known to her family and friends as an extremely caring, giving, smiley person. She will be loved and missed by all. She is survived by her loving husband, of 51 years, John Bartholow of Shippensburg, two daughters, Teresa Keith (Christopher) of Crofton, MD and Kathy Bartholow (Kathleen Knell) of Pittsburgh, brother, Stan Stayer (Donna) of Roanoke, WV, two grandsons, Jacob and Robert Keith of Crofton, MD, several nieces, Susan Corley and Nicole Herrnberger and extended family. She also is leaving behind her beloved cat and companion, “Smokie”. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carol Essen. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial Services are at the discretion of the family.
