Joyce Bright of Shippensburg, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, after a battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Washington, DC, Joyce was the daughter of the late Jo (Jolliffe) and Alvin Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on June 25, 2021 by her husband of 50 years, Thomas L. Bright. Joyce graduated from Thomas Edison High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from The College of William and Mary and her Master's degree from Shippensburg University. She worked as a Medical Technologist at Johns Hopkins and later at The Etter Health Center at Shippensburg University. Her family was always the center of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a smile, a card, a letter, a gift and/or a cake for everyone for every occasion, and loved to celebrate all of life's moments. Reading, traveling, baking, and drinking tea, were all things she enjoyed, but most of all, she loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Patrick J. married to Colleen (Smerek) Hudson, Ohio and Sandra R. married to Chad Bennett, Shippensburg, as well as her four grandchildren; Natalie Bright, Thomas Bennett, Colin Bright, and Genevieve Bennett. She also is survived by her brother, Alvin Thompson married to Gretchen (Stein) Lorton VA, brother-in-law, James Bright married to Beth (Zemet), Johnstown, sister-in-law, June Bright, Morgantown, WV, and many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive Shippensburg. A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, 305 North Prince Street, Shippensburg. Father Benjamin Dunkelberger will officiate.
