Judith “Judy” Ann Bracken, age 80, of Chambersburg, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 8, 2024, with her daughter by her side, at Paramount Nursing and Rehab, Fayetteville. She was born February 12, 1944 at her grandparent’s farm in Blairsville, PA, as the daughter of the late Jerry A. Lear and Elverda (Libengood) Hoffman.
Judy graduated in the Class of 1962 from Westmont Hilltop High School. She worked as an Administrative Assistant from City Bank after working there for a couple of years. She was an auxiliary member of VFW Post 1599 in Chambersburg and Mason Dixon Bowling Association for many years. She was a wife, mother, and friend loved by many. She was an avid bowler for many years and loved to work on her flower beds. Aside from her children, and grandchildren, Judy would tell you she had been to Disney 98 times. She spent many wonderful times there with her husband and family. Judy’s love of life and family will be missed by many.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, William Donald Bracken, Sr.; three children, Teresa Straley of Chambersburg, William Donald Bracken, Jr. and his wife, Marcia of Arizona and Jerry Bracken of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Coltin Bowling, Dylan Bowling and his fiancé, Raven Sellers, Bailey Maple and her husband, Billy, Dallas Bracken, Madyson Bracken and Gracie Bracken; three great-grandchildren, Riley, Odin and Aria with one future great-grandson on the way, Ayden; three sisters, Linda Burkett and her husband, Woodrow, Pam Kobak and Bonnie Brett and her husband, Dale; two brothers, David Naugle and his wife, Roxanne and William Naugle and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her sister, Susie Burkett and baby sister, Cindy Naugle; brother-in-law, Fred Kobak and sister-in-law, Linda Naugle.
Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257, with Reverend Richard Reese officiating. A Public Viewing will take place on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Private Graveside will follow the services at the funeral home. A light meal will be served, following the graveside, at Chambersburg VFW Post 1599.
