Karen L. Baer, age 68 of Shippensburg, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Menno Haven in Chambersburg. She was born Thursday, December 4, 1947 in Chambersburg, the daughter of Betty J. Binner of Shippensburg and the late Howard Binner, Sr. She worked as a cook at Tollgate Restaurant and The Episcopal Home. She loved to hunt, fish, cook, go to yard sales and her cabin in Potter County. She enjoyed canning, especially corn and red beets. She was always very meticulous in her work. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Charles E. Baer. She is also survived by sons, Troy E. Bigler of Newburg, Gary R. Bigler, Jr., of Verona, VA, step-daughter Debra Wright of Canton, NC, step-sons Brian Baer and Dennis Baer, both of Shippensburg, 11 grandchildren, one great-grandson, a sister, Gloria Beecher of Shippensburg and brothers, Rick Binner and Jeff Binner, both of Port Saint Lucie, FL. She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Binner, Jr. and granddaughter, Dominique Bigler in 2014. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 6 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Philip Steele officiating. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 924 North Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403 and Green Spring First Church of God, 1140 Greenspring Road, Newville, PA 17241.
