Larry William Smith, entered into God's eternal care on December 23, 2025, at the age of 84. Born June 18, 1941 in York Springs. He was the son of the late Chester William Smith and Alma Pauline (Farrar) Smith.
Larry attended Biglerville High School and graduated from Boiling Springs in 1959.
Larry began working at a young age picking fruit for Papes, where he learned the value of hard work that stayed with him throughout his life. He went on to build a career as a mechanic with Musselmans and later Caterpillar. Larry also proudly served in the Army National Guard, working on helicopters and earning recognition as a sharpshooter. He finished his career as a service manager at Ransome Lift in Lemoyne for over 30 years. Larry had a profound love for his family, animals, and sports. He enjoyed hunting and fishing over the years and cherished time spent hiking the Appalachian Trail, as well as many family vacations to the beach. Larry’s life was guided by a strong Christian faith, which remained a constant source of strength and comfort throughout his life.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Arlene (Stambaugh) Smith; three daughters: Karen Brandt (Daryl), Brenda Ingram, Lisa Wenger (Ray); one sister, Carolyn Gaither (Richard); grandchildren: Michael Brandt (Sarah), Melissa Brandt, Abigail Wenger, Britney Ingram, Zachariah Wenger; great-grandson Jared Brandt and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Services are private at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mountain Ridge Church, 32 Big Dam Rd, Dillsburg, PA 17019.
