Larry W. Showers

Larry W. Showers, age 76, of Biglerville died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He was born Monday, July 2, 1934 in Menallen Township, Adams County, the son of the late Charles and Mary Taylor Showers. Larry graduated from Biglerville High School in 1952. Hewas employed by Mt. Holly Dielectric, formerly Scweitzers Paper Mill, for 30 years. He was a member ofSt. James Lutheran Church in Wenksville, South Mountain Antique Engine Associationand he served on the Wenksville Cemetery Board.Larry was stationed in Germany during the Korean War serving with the US Army. His wife Janet A. (Stoner) Showers died in 2005. He is survived by his son, Alan C. Showers and wife Sally and grandchildren Aubrey D. Showers and Brandon W. Showers all of Aspers. He was preceded in death by a son, Doug W. Showers who died in 1967 and by two brothers, Marlin and Paul Showers. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 6 in the Wenksville Cemetery, 2010 Wenksville Road, Biglerville with the Reverend Robert S. McEllroy III officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 179 Dug Hill Road, Biglerville, PA 17307 or South Mountain Antique Engine Association, PO Box 65, Arendtsville, PA 17303.
