Lawrence H. Murtoff was born on June 6th, 1938 to the late Boyd and Bertha Murtoff of Gardners, Pennsylvania.
Lawrence attended Boiling Springs High School and graduated in 1956. He played in the Boiling Springs High School band and sang in the chorus for the school as well. Larry served in the National Guard reserves for 8 years. Upon graduating from high school, he began working for Mussleman's as a diesel mechanic and truck driver. He worked for Mussleman's and Knouse Foods over 40 years, retiring as a diesel mechanic in 2003. Shortly after retiring, he began to work for Group and Group Excavating until 2020.
Some of Larry's favorite things to do included: attending church at Faith Chapel of Carlisle where he was a member since 1977, spending time with his family, hunting, working on vehicles and his John Deere tractor, golf, camping, and helping Todd and Mitchell with sports and various hobbies. He also loved spending time with his granddaughters and attending their events.
Larry and Charlotte were married on December 22, 1957. They were blessed with two sons, Todd in 1972 and Mitchell in 1974. They were later blessed with two granddaughters, Madison in 2002 and Ashley in 2006.
Larry is survived by his wife, Charlotte Murtoff of 67 years, his two sons, Todd Murtoff and his wife Nexa, and Mitchell Murtoff, two granddaughters, Madison and Ashley, and three step-grandchildren, Daniel, Gabriel, and Denexa. He is also survived by six brothers: Dick, Doug, Laird, Dave, Jay, and Steve Murtoff and one sister, Joy Knaub, and many nieces and nephews.
Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 111 S. Main Street Bendersville, PA 17306. A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Faith Chapel, 1453 Holly Pike Carlisle, PA 17015 from 10:00am until time of Celebration of Life at 11:00am. Pastor Michael Mayer will officiate the celebration. Larry will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg.
