Lawrence E. Swartz

Lawrence (Peewee) E. Swartz, age 74, of Upper Horse Valley Road, Upper Strasburg, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 surrounded by his family at home. He was born March 21, 1948 in Wood Township, Huntington County, PA, to the late Willard G. and Vivian W. (Brown) Swartz.

Lawrence is a Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was drafted in 1966 and honorably discharged in 1972. Lawrence enjoyed the wilderness. Anyone that knew Peewee would know exactly where to find him hunting or fishing if not at home with his wife and children. He won 2nd place for the largest Muskie in PA and also first place for the largest Walleye. He loved fishing on the Swatty. He will be remembered for his love of his family and the wilderness, being a man of few words and his story telling.

Lawrence is survived by his two children, Wendy Vognet and husband, Ron of Ashland and Lawrence Edward Swartz Jr. and wife, Tori Dunnick of York; three grandchildren, Lyndsie R. Nolen and husband, Edward of Palmyra, Logan Andrew Swartz and wife, Erika of Pottsville and Shianne Rose of Florida; three great-granddaughters, Micaela Mae, Penelope and Gracelynn Nolen, all of Palmyra; sister, Jackie Keefer and husband, Gary of Upper Strasburg; three nieces, Traci Henry and husband, Kevin of Chambersburg, Tonia Keefer of Upper Strasburg and Terri Poper and husband, Sam of Chambersburg; one great-niece, Blaire Henry of Chambersburg and three great-nephews of Upper Strasburg. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Sheila M (Mozingo) Swartz.

Professional Services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, Shippensburg, PA. A Celebration of Lawrence’s Life and the reuniting of Lawrence and Sheila will be on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at LSL Sportsmens Club, 3549 Orrstown Road, Orrstown, PA 17244. Burial will be Monday, April 3, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Broad Top City Cemetery, Broad Top City, PA with Pastor Jeff Musser officiating.
