Leroy Melvin Bowermaster

Leroy M. Bowermaster, 77, of Shippensburg, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at this home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 23, 1948 in Shippensburg, PA. He was the son of the late Norm Kauffman and Janet J. Hartman.

He started his career as an Equipment Operator and went on to work for many years. Leroy served his country proudly in the United States Army. Leroy loved his pets; his most recent dog was named Tiny. He loved her like she was his own daughter. In his younger years, Leroy enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He used to play in a band, The South Mountain Boys, where Leroy loved music and playing his guitar. Leroy was an avid car lover for many years. He enjoyed helping others with tiny projects or anything that needed fixed. In his free time, Leroy would cook and hand out chicken for various organizations and loved to be active in the community. Most of all, Leroy loved spending time with his family and having everyone at family gatherings.

Leroy is survived by one brother, Clarence Hartman, Jr.; one nephew, Jerry L. Shields and his wife, Tammy; two nieces, Sherry A. Acre and Janie S. Perry; and numerous great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Leroy is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Bowermaster and two brothers, Roy Bowermaster and Larry Bowermaster.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home & Cremation, Ltd., 51 Asper Drive in Shippensburg. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Rehoboth Church Cemetery, 511 Walnut Bottom Rd., Walnut Bottom, Pennsylvania.
