Leroy C. Mckenzie

Elder Leroy C. McKenzie, Sr., age 66 of Waynesboro, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Waynesboro Hospital. He was born Monday, November 5, 1945 in Lake City, SC, the son of the late Ernest C. and Elease (Wilson) McKenzie Snively. Leroy graduated from Forest Park High School in Baltimore and Morgan State University in Baltimore with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education. He was employed as a school teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools from 1972 until 1987. He also coached many sports including track, swimming and football while teaching. Leroy started the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Waynesboro in the early 1990s. He is survived by four daughters: Claudette Dyches of Marshall's Creek, PA, Larissa Neal of Leesburg, VA, Toussant Hart of Baltimore, MD and Tabitha McKenzie of Baltimore; seven sons: Leroy C. McKenzie, Jr. of Baltimore, Ernest Cory McKenzie of Homer City, PA, Ronald McKenzie of Baltimore, Abraham M. McKenzie of Waynesboro, Mark Jason McKenzie of Baltimore, Michael McKenzie of Waynesboro and Aaron E. McKenzie of Indiana, PA; 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; three sisters: Elizabeth Shird, Josieanne Adgers and Doris McKenzie all of Baltimore; two son-in-laws: Gordon Neal of Leesburg and Stacey Dyches of Bushkill, PA and a daughter-in-law, Antoinette McKenzie of Homer City. He was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth McKenzie and Ernest McKenzie, Jr. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, June 9 at Greater Good News Church of God in Christ, 601 South Main Street, Chambersburg with Bishop Edgar Scott officiating. Interment will be inGreen HillCemetery, South Potomac Street, Waynesboro. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
