Lloyd A. Trinklein

July 3, 1926 — February 2, 2014

Lloyd A. Trinklein, age 87 of Shippensburg, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Harrisburg Hospital. He was born on July 3, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of the late William and Alma (Schultz) Trinklein. Lloyd graduated from Saginaw High School in 1944 and earned his B.A. in Education from Central Michigan College of Education. He began his high school teaching career in Ravenna, MI. He later earned his Master's Degree in Science for Teachers from the University of Michigan and his PhD in Education from Michigan State University. He was a professor of Science Education at Shippensburg University from 1966 - 1986. Lloyd served in the US Army as a sergeant in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg, where he sang in the choir and served on the church council. He served on the Shippensburg University Foundation board and was project manager for several building projects. Lloyd was a founding member of the Scotland School Foundation; he also worked in the local office of Representative Jeffrey Coy and served as the Executive Director of the Shippensburg Chamber of Commerce. In recent years, Lloyd enjoyed his volunteer work in the rehabilitation department at Chambersburg Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois Jane (Herrman) Trinklein. He is also survived by two sons, Kim W. and wife Kate Trinklein of Bethel, CT and Marc S. and wife Imelda Trinklein of Palmdale, CA; three granddaughters, Sheila M. Sutton (Brandon) of Boxford, MA,. Kyla M. Stetson (Zach) of Bethel, Alicia M. Trinklein of Bethel and two great-grandchildren, Collin D. and Avery K. Sutton. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Llewellyn and Ruth Boelter. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 15 at Memorial Lutheran Church, 34 E. Orange Street, Shippensburg with Reverend Bonnie Hoffman officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, February 14 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church, 34 E. Orange Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257, Shippensburg Public Library, 73 W. King Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257 or the charity of your choice.
