Louise S. Mccarty

Louise S. McCarty, age 98 of Hanover, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Homewood at Plum Creek. She was born Wednesday, December 17, 1919 in Norfolk, VA, the daughter of the late Alexander F. and Lula B. (Clarke) Schafhirt. Louise graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk, VA. She earned her B.A. in Fine Art Ceramics from Alfred University. She was formerly employed by Canisteo Central High School in Canisteo, NY. She had also taught in Milledgeville, GA and Hornell, NY. She was a member of the Presbyterian denomination. Her husband, Willett D. McCarty passed in 1995. She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie B. and husband Ted Wachhaus of York Springs, one son, Raymond A. McCarty of Lyman, SC, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Elizabeth Cornick. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at the discretion of the family. Interment will be in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery, Virginia Beach, VA.
