Lucy R. Swanger, age 61 of Roxbury, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at her home. She was born Friday, April 10, 1953 in Huntingdon, the daughter of the late Myrl E. and Thelma O. (Snyder) Johnson. Lucy graduated from Fannett-Metal High School in 1971. She was formerly employed by J. Shaneman Company, aka Stanley Company in Chambersburg for almost 30 years. She was later a cook at Hub City Club in Shippensburg and the American Legion in Dry Run. She was a member of Mongul United Brethren in Christ Church, Minnequa Club and American Legion Auxiliary in Dry Run. She is survived by her husband, Keith B. Swanger of 42 years. She is also survived by a daughter, Bobbie Sue Hawbaker of Roxbury; one granddaughter, Madison Marie Hawbaker; six sisters, Kay Criswell of Shippensburg, Mary Long of Fannettsburg, Faye George of Spring Run, Alma Burdge of Amberson, Diane Masters of Texas, Avis Black of Carlisle; three brothers, Bill Johnson of Chambersburg, Homer Johnson of Spring Run and Wayne Johnson of Blairs Mills and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Irvin and Luther Johnson. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 21, at Mongul Church of the Brethren in Christ, 4161 Roxbury Road, Shippensburg with Reverend Rocky Spear officiating.
