Luther E. Mummert, age 87 of East Berlin, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Monday, August 12, 1929 in Davidsburg, the son of the late Charles and Mamie (Ruppert) Mummert. Luther retired from Hempt Brothers with 20 years of service and 26 years from Beacon Milling Corp. He was Huntington Township Road supervisor for ten years. He was a member of Upper Bermudian Lutheran Church, Gardners, and active member of York Springs Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary, an active member with the Jaycees of York Springs and also a member of National Guard. Luther enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. His wife, Betty E. (Miller) Mummert preceded him in death. He is survived by his son Raymond E. (Cindy) Mummert, East Berlin, five grandchildren: Daniel (Anna) Mummert of Cheyenne, WY, Nathanael (Amanda) Mummert of Kansas City, MO, Stephanie (Pope) Seenmuangmaa of Chang Rai, Thailand, Timothy (Adriane) Mummert of Lancaster, and Sharon Mummert of State College, eleven great-grandchildren and one niece Gloria Gettle of York. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Mummert and Kenneth Mummert, sisters,Ida Landis and Helen Showalter. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 22 at Upper Bermudian Lutheran Church, Gardners with Reverend David Clark officiating. Interment will be in Upper Bermudian Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
