M. Everett Weiser entered into rest at home early morning on Monday, May 18, 2015. He was born Saturday, December 6, 1924, Dickinson Township, Cumberland County, PA, the son of Mark E. and Ethel I. (Trump) Weiser. He attended and graduated from York Springs High School in 1943. Everett entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and was assigned to the 553rd Military Police Escort Guard. The Unit received five Bronze Stars during their tour of duty during World War II. After returning from WWII, Everett started working on the fruit farm owned by Norman D. Starry. After several years, Everett and Olive bought the fruit farm and started Weiser Orchards. Weiser Orchards Farm Market was started in 1938 and moved to its present location in 1963. Everett was instrumental along with his cousin Reverend Frederick S. Weiser and several others in forming the John Conrad Weiser Family Association. He served as board member and President for many years. In 1960, Everett was elected to the Board of Directors of Knouse Foods, Inc. and served faithfully for 41 years until 2001. In 1972, he was awarded the Mid-Atlantic Master Farmer award. Other businesses and organizations he was involved with include Mt. Orchards, CCNB/PNC, the National Cherry Board, Adams County Fruit Growers Association, Hebron Masonic Lodge and he was a lifetime member of the York Springs Fire Company. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Olive L. (Starry) Weiser. They were married on July 10, 1943. They had four sons who survive him: Mark E. of Columbia, MD, Conrad D. (Martha), Timothy L. (Carol) and Steven P., all of York Springs. Other survivors include four grandsons, a granddaughter, a step-granddaughter, six great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Arlene Delp of Carlisle, Marion Hogue of York and Joyce (Leland) King of Idaville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, S. Romaine (Weiser) Gardner. Arrangements are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 27 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, York Springs at 11:00 AM with Reverend Ben Leese officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Tuesday evening, May 26 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Everett's honor either to the York Springs Fire Company, PO Box 315, York Springs, PA 17372 or to the State Horticulture Association of PA (SHAP), c/o Maureen Irvine, 480 Mountain Road, Orrtanna, PA 17358.
