Mabel F. Hoover

Mabel F. Hoover, age 92 of Chambersburg, passed away April 1, 2025, surrounded by her family, at home. She was born October 16, 1932 in Doylesburg to the late Verne M. and Fannie B. (Shoop) Hammond. Mabel was widowed by her husband, C. Lee Hoover, Jr., in 1984.

Mabel was a member of the Shippensburg Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed volunteering at Menno Haven, Penn Hall and New Life; liked to golf and play cards. Mabel formerly worked in the bakery at Cressler’s and Weis. She loved having yard sales, even up until she was 90 years old.

She is survived by her children; Donna Hoover of Shippensburg, Gary Hoover and wife, Lily of Greencastle, Debra Ocker and husband, Dave of Shippensburg and Lori Sommerville and husband, Bradley of Fayetteville; 7 grandchildren, David, Stephanie, Emily, Jessica, Galen, Lora, and Cole and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Glenn Dawson and Geraldine Shoop.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, where funeral service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 11:00am. Pastor Gary Rebok will officiate the funeral. A visitation will be held from 10:00am until time of funeral service. Mabel will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Cemetery.
