Marie S. Hess

Marie S. Hess, age 87 of Biglerville, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Transitions Health Care in Gettysburg. She was born Thursday, May 5, 1932 in Menallen Twp. Adams Co., the daughter of the late D. Bruce and Elsie Anna Elizabeth (Koontz) Sheaffer. Marie was formerly employed by Dal-Tile in Bendersville for 18 years. She was a member of St James Lutheran Church in Wenksville where she was a member of ELCA and served on the church council. She was also a life member of Bendersville Fire Company, where she cooked for over 15 years, and Upper Adams Senior Citizens. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. She enjoyed serving her community, helping with any group that asked her to help. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren like no other. Her husband, Richard E. Hess, passed March 24, 1990. She is survived by four daughters, Susan M. Kime and companion Kevin Shealer of Bendersville, Linda L. and husband Brent Smith, of Biglerville, Cheryl A. and husband Gary Black of Orrtanna, Barbara J. Taylor of Aspers, one son, David R. and wife Marie Hess of Gardners, thirteen grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Janet McGuirk of Biglerville, Jean Klinedinst of York Springs and one brother, Clair "Tom" Sheaffer of Chambersburg. She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Sheaffer and two son-in-laws, Dale Kime and Guy Taylor. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 16 at St. James Lutheran Church, 2017 Wenksville Road, Biglerville with Reverend B. Wesley Smith officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of services.
