Marion L. Black, age 68 of York Springs, died Monday, December 24, 2012 at Hershey Medical Center. He was born Sunday, January 16, 1944 in Carlisle, the son of the late Charles B. and Mary Florence (Smith) Black. Marion graduated from Perry Joint High School in New Bloomfield in 1964. He attended Southeastern Bible College in Florida. He also went to barber school in Harrisburg. He was formerly employed by R. H. Shepherd in Hanover for 36 years. He owned and operated Marion Black's Barber Shop in York Springs for close to 40 years. He was a member of NRA, Green Springs Rod and Gun Club in Hanover, and North American Saab Club. He served in the US Army during Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Connie L. (Miller) Black. He is also survived by two sons: Jeremy L. and wife Christina Black of Verona, NJ and Justin L. and wife Heidi Black of York Springs; a grandson Blaine Black and granddaughter Braelyn Black, both of York Springs, two sisters; Millie Grosby of Kansas City, MO and Gayle Gottshall of Harrisburg; and two brothers Darwyn Black of Carlisle and Kenneth Black of York Springs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Black. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 29 at the Heritage Assembly of God, 1575 Chambersburg Road, Gettysburg with Reverend Jeff Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until time of services.
