Marlene C. Showers

Marlene "Whitey" C. Showers, age 83 of Gardners, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. He was born Thursday, July 4, 1935 in Menallen Twp. Adams Co., the son of the late Paul C. and Margaret C. (Taylor) Showers. Whitey served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 and then transferred to the US Army Reserve for an additional four years. He was stationed in Germany for 16 months during his active service. After the military, he worked for Bowen-McGlaughlin in York, Pfaltzgraff in Bendersville, and Yorkco Builders for several years. He retired from Herff Jones Year Books in Gettysburg after 5 years of service. He attended Upper Bermudian Lutheran Church and was a member of Ira E. Lady American Legion Post 262 in Biglerville, where he served on the honor guard for many years, VFW of Mt. Holly Springs and Shoshonean Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marcia M. (Brough) Showers. He is also survived by two daughters, Sherry J. and husband Christopher Dubs of New Oxford, Stacey M. and husband Christopher Codori of Gettysburg, three grandchildren, one step-granddaughter and two step-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dixie Showers of Aspers and Pamela Gelsinger of East Berlin, three brothers, Ted Showers and Jack Showers both of Gardners and Jeff Showers of New Oxford. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leon, Donald and Darrel. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 13 at Upper Bermudian Lutheran Church, 185 Ground Oak Church Road, Gardners with Reverend David Clark officiating. Interment will be in Upper Bermudian Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services.
