Marlin "Marty" Eugene Showers

Marlin Eugene (Marty) Showers, age 73, of Gardners died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Gettysburg Hospital with his family by his side. He was born Friday, September 24, 1937 in Mount Holly Springs, the son of the late Marlin J. and Dorothy(Kuhn) Showers. Hewas employed by Knouse Foods Inc.for 47 years. He also worked for Dean Carey Orchards in Gardners. He was a Life member of the Bendersville Fire Company, a member of Aspers Fire Co., andAmerican Legion Post 262 Biglerville. He was an avid deer hunter and loved old movies, especially John Wayne and watching sports. He is survived by his wife, Pauline I. (Livingston) Showers to whom he was married for55 years. He is also survived by two daughters: Dorothy G. Smith, Aspers and Roxanne Showers, Gardners; a son, David E. Showers, New Oxford; a sister, Mary Ann Keller, Walkersville, MD; three brothers: James W. Showers, Aspers, Walter C. Showers, Arendtsville, Gary L. Showers, Aspers; and five granddaughters: Dusty Smith, Mindy DeJesus, Mandy Gerhart, Misty Showers and Maranda Showers. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 16, at Dugan Funeral Home with Reverend Robert S. McEllroy III officiating.Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening, September 15from 7:00 to 9:00. Memorial contributions may be made to Bendersville Fire Company, P.O.
