Mary Frances Carter, age 97 of Chambersburg, formerly of Duncannon, died Friday, February 1, 2013 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab in Chambersburg. She was born Saturday, February 20, 1915 in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Stanley and Corabelle (Proctor) Malatt. Mary was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Fourth Street Church of the Brethren in Chambersburg. She enjoyed sewing, reading and walking around her neighborhood. She is survived by five daughters: Frances Espenshade of Dauphin, Phyllis Tibbens of Hershey, Naomi Felty of Harrisburg, Betty Russell of Millsboro, DE and Edwina K. Fontaine of Chambersburg; 22 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Douglas Malatt and Melvin Malatt, both of West Virginia. She was preceded in death by three sons: Raymond, David and Donald Carter; four sisters: Corabelle, Gladys, Dorothy and Addie; and two brothers, Donald and Frank. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 5 at Fourth Street Church of the Brethren, 260 S. Fourth Street, Chambersburg with Reverend Darlene Stouffer officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Sunnyside Cemetery in Dauphin. A viewing will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels Association of America, 43 W. Washington Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
