Matthew L. Junkins

Matthew L. Junkins, age 29 of Reinholds, formerly of Aspers, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Jefferson Medical Center in Philadelphia. He was born Thursday, January 30, 1986 in Hanover, the son of Robert L. and Patricia R. (Rinehart) Junkins of Aspers. Matthew graduated from Biglerville High School in 2004, where he was a member of both the football and track and field teams He was also president of his senior class at Biglerville. He graduated from Millersville University in 2008 with a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health. He was employed by Hershey Medical Center as program manager of chemical and environmental safety for 2 years. Prior to his employ at Hershey, he worked at Kalas Manufacturing Inc. in Lancaster, where he was the Environmental Health and Safety Manager. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Bendersville, a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and Upper Adams Jaycees where he was chairman of the pit beef stand at National Apple Harvest Festival. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his wife Shannon M. (Sulkovsky) Junkins to whom he was married for just over one year, two sisters: Shannon M. and husband Mike Brough of Carlisle, Erin M. and husband Rusty Rupp of Franklintown, two brothers: Justin R. Junkins and wife Jessica Knouse of Arendtsville, and Timothy E. Atteberry of Carlisle, three nieces, one nephew and one great-nephew, parents-in-law, Richard J. and wife Debbie Sulkovsky of Ocean View, DE, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, June 8 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 126 Church Street, Bendersville with the Reverend Martin Young officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Arendtsville. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 7 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
