Matthew A. Mitchell

Matthew A. Mitchell, age 35, of Shippensburg, passed away suddenly Saturday, August 31, 2019. He was born December 19, 1983 in Chambersburg, PA, the son of John and Ruth (Shearer) Mitchell. “Matt” graduated from Southern Huntington High School in 2002. He served in the Department of Corrections at Maryland Correction Training Center in Hagerstown, Maryland. Matt was an avid Steeler’s fan and he loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Melissa Mitchell of Shippensburg; his two children, Dameon and Rhiannon Mitchell of Shippensburg; his sister, Stephanie Wilson of Chambersburg and many uncles, aunts, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 14 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Reverend Mark Thompson officiating. There will be a Visitation at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the time of services.
