Matthew David Whetzel

Matthew “Matt” David Whetzel, age 44, of Greencastle, passed away suddenly Sunday, October 3, 2021 at LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville, TN. He was born October 7, 1976 in Baltimore, MD, as the son of Albert L. and the late Ethel L. (Heavner) Whetzel. Matt graduated in the Class of 1995 from Waynesboro High School. He worked as a Service Director for Massey Hyundai in Hagerstown, MD for over 10 years. He was a member of LifePoint Church in Chambersburg. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars and is known for his love of his family and the joy he had spending time with them. He was also known by his family and friends as always being down to get a beer and hang out. Matt is survived by his loving wife, of 23 years, Amber Michelle (Blickenstaff) Whetzel of Greencastle; his father, Albert L. Whetzel of Shippensburg; two children, Austin Whetzel and his wife, Ashlyn of St. Thomas, PA and Alexis Whetzel of Greencastle; two brothers, Steven Whetzel and his wife, Tracy of Hedgesville, WV and Christopherjohn Whetzel and his wife, Melissa of Shippensburg and a granddaughter, Chandler Whetzel. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg with Pastor Randy Rhodes officiating. A Procession to Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle will follow the service. A Public Viewing will be held from 6:00–8:00 PM on Monday, October 11, at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory.
