Maurice E. "Jumbo" Pitzer, Jr., age 80 of Biglerville, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at SpiriTrust Home in Gettysburg. He was born Sunday, October 13, 1935 in Menallen Twp., Adams Co., the son of the late Maurice E. and Edna C. (Warren) Pitzer, Sr. Jumbo graduated from Biglerville High School in 1954. He was employed by Inland Container for 30+ years. He was a lifetime member of Wenksville United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for 53 years. He was treasurer of Wenksville Cemetery Association for 33 years, life member of Bendersville Fire Company, life member of Adams County Fish and Game, life member of NRA, life member of NAHC, charter member of NRA (Whittington Center) and lifetime member Oakside Community Park. He was also a volunteer with Upper Adams Meals on Wheels.His favorite pasttimes included hunting, gardening, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was recognized by the Senate of PA for voting in 50 consecutive years. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty H.(Sheaffer) Pitzer. He is also survived by two daughters, Irene and husband Jim Tracey, Sharri P. and husband Jeff Plattenburg, all of Littlestown, three grandchildren: Casey Miller and husband Shawn of Littlestown, Gary Plattenburg and wife Jenn of Dillsburg, Jennifer Scott and husband Greg of Gettysburg, five great-grandchildren, Colton and Gracie Miller of Littlestown, Sierra and Sophia Plattenburg of Dillsburg, and Henry Scott of Gettysburg, sister Louetta C. and husband Clair Showers of Aspers, sister-in-law Levona Pitzer of Biglerville, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth S. Pitzer. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 27 at Wenksville United Methodist Church, 2010 Wenksville Road, Biglerville, with Reverend Rick Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Wenksville Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home, 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville and at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Wenksville United Methodist Church, 2010 Wenksville Road, Biglerville, PA 17307.
