Meghan T. Mckinney

Meghan T. McKinney, age 23, of Aspers, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 29, 2015. She was born Wednesday, November 27, 1991 in Gettysburg, the daughter Douglas G. McKinney of Arendtsville and Kimberly A. (Jackson) Killen of Aspers. Meghan graduated from Biglerville High School in 2010. She earned her B.S. in Athletic Training from Slippery Rock University. She was currently attending Penn State University Harrisburg Campus where she was pursuing her nursing degree. While at Biglerville High, she played varsity field hockey, basketball and soccer all four years. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the gifted program. While attending Slippery Rock, she was a starter on the field hockey team having played 73 games, which were three games shy of the SRU record for appearances. She received a coach's award, and lettered all four years. Her nickname on the team was "Wheels". She was the ultimate competitor. Musselman's Pet Paradise employed her for several years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Biglerville. Meghan participated in several mission trips including Bolivia, India, and Dominican Republic. During a trip to Rome, she ran her first marathon. Meghan loved the sport of ice hockey. Her favorite teams were the Hershey Bears and Washington Capitals. Meghan loved to go deer hunting with her family. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Colton D. McKinney of Aspers, Carter D. McKinney of Biglerville; step-father Richard Killen and step-brother Matt Killen of Aspers; maternal step-mother Stephanie McKinney; paternal grandmother; Marsha Baker of East Berlin; maternal grandmother Carol Heide of Harrisburg; maternal grandfather Alan Jackson of Palmyra; two aunts, Kim McKinney and Kelly Jackson; two uncles, Christopher and Andrew Jackson; step-grandmother Joan Killen and step-aunts, Kim Mentzer and Linda Shreve. Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, October 10 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 25 Franklin Street, Biglerville with Reverend Marjorie Lauver officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 2:00 PM until time of services and also following the services. With Meghan's love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
