Melvin E. Gulden, age 85 of Arendtsville, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home. He was born Thursday, December 1, 1932 in Gettysburg. He was raised by his grandparents, the late John and Mary Gulden. Mel attended Gettysburg High School. He was formerly employed by Inland Container for 38 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arendtsville, where he was very active in church activities. He served as Judge of Elections for Arendtsville Borough for several years. Mel was also a charter member of the Arendtsville Fire Company. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy M. (Hartzell) Gulden. He is also survived by one daughter, Tina S. and husband Robert E. Hollabaugh of Biglerville, two sons, Martin L. Gulden of York Springs, Tony M. Gulden of Gettysburg, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Gothberg who passed away in May of 2017. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 38 N. High Street, Arendtsville at 11:00 AM on March 17 with Reverend Ben Seibert officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services.
