Melvin L. "Tom" Miller, age 88 of York Springs, died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born Sunday, September 21, 1924 in York Springs the son of the late John E. and Alberta (Groscost) Miller. Melvin was employed by Hoffman Home for Youths for 15 years in the transportation department. He also formerly was a milk man for Penn Supreme Dairies for many years. He was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church in Gettysburg. He was also a member of Heidlersburg Fire Company. He served on the Tyrone Twp Recycling Committee and was a caretaker and board member of the Rock Chapel Methodist Church. He served in the US Army during World War II. His wife Louise M. (Rice) Miller died in 2011. He is survived by two daughters: Vickie A. and husband David Myers of York Springs and Sandy L. and husband Roger McGlaughlin of York Springs; a son, Rick L. and wife Mary Miller of New Oxford; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one brother, Donald Miller of York Springs. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Steele and a brother, Wilmer Miller. Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 29 at Foursquare Gospel Church, 328 W. Middle Street, Gettysburg with Reverend Mark Chester officiating.Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Home and on Thursday at the church from 9:00 AM until time of services.
