Melvin G. Mathna, Sr.

Melvin G. “Moe” Mathna, Sr., age 75 of Orrstown, passed away July 6, 2024 at Chambersburg Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born February 27, 1949 in Mongul to the late Herbert and Lucy (Nye) Mathna. He was widowed by his wife, Mildred “Millie” (Hill) Mathna in 2014.

Moe was a self-employed carpenter, a member of the HUB City Club, the Shippensburg VFW, the Minnequa Club, the Shippensburg American Legion and the Marine Corp of Chambersburg.

He is survived by his sons, Melvin G. Mathna Jr. and companion, Barb Moore of Orrstown and James E. Mathna and partner, Richard Myers of Florida; brothers, Clark Mathna and Stanley Mathna; sisters, Nancy Piper and Helen Carlson and many nieces and nephews. Moe was preceded in death by his brothers, Jay Mathna, Herbert “Dean” Mathna and Dallas Mathna and sister, Vivian Dangler.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. At Melvin’s request, viewing will be private at the convenience of the family.
