Mereda A. Helm

Mereda A. Helm, age 89 of Gettysburg, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at SpiriTrust Home in Gettysburg. She was born Friday, December 28, 1928 in Gardners, the daughter of the late Denzil W. and Maude (McKinney) Slusser. Mereda was formerly employed by C.H. Musselman Co. in Gardners for many years. She also provided home healthcare for individuals in the Carlisle and Mt. Holly Springs area. She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Goodyear and had attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in York Springs. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word searches and adult coloring at the nursing home. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing patchwork. She is survived by two sisters, Faye and husband Lee Bowermaster and Paulette Kelley both of Carlisle, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Valda Barnhart, Marcella Moose, and brothers, Walter, Christopher, Kermit, Lee and James Frank Slusser. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 10 at Dugan Funeral Home, Bendersville with Reverend Sherry Miller officiating. Interment will be in Goodyear Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
