Merle E. Plank

Merle E. Plank, age 79 of Biglerville, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015 at his home. He was born Wednesday, February 26, 1936 in Gettysburg, the son of the late Landon R. and Mary M. (Kauffman) Plank. Merle was a self-employed truck driver for many years before retiring in 2006. He had also formerly been employed by LH Trucking. He had earned many safety awards and had achieved 2,000,000 miles of accident free driving. Whenever you needed someone, he was the one to go to. He was a hard-working man that deserves peace. He was an amazing great-grandfather who cherished his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary K. (Shindledecker) Plank. He is also survived by a daughter, Deborah J. and husband Robert Reecher of Gettysburg; four grandchildren, David Plank, Donald Wagaman, Jason Wagaman, and Dana Baker; five great-grandchildren, Johnathon Plank, Hunter Plank, Christian Hernandez, Ashley Wagaman and Alexzandra Wagaman; a sister, Barb Hostetter of York Springs; five brothers, Dallas Plank of York Springs, Kenny Plank of Poconos, Marshall Plank of Biglerville, Wayne Plank of Hanover, and Elmer Plank of TN. He was preceded in death by his son, Merle E. Plank, Jr. and two brothers, Fred and Roy Plank and a sister, Dorothy Baker. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main Street, Bendersville. Services will be held at the discretion of the family.
