Michael Paul Sobotor

Michael “Mike” Paul Sobotor, age 69, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. He was born January 22, 1954 in Shamokin the son of the late Alphonse Francis and Amelia Bernadette (Brenner) Sobotor.

Michael graduated in the Class of 1972 from Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School in Shamokin. He retired from Dayton Parts in Harrisburg after working there as a Machinist. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arendtsville. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed building model classic cars and watching NASCAR. He also was an avid fan of the Yankees, North Carolina Tar Heels, Penn State football, New York Giants. His family remembers him for being a human GPS and knowing where everything was and also knowing tidbits of trivia.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Ruth Anne (Messick) Sobotor of Carlisle; daughter, Lauren Skaare and her husband, Justin of Louisville, CO; two step-children from his previous marriage, Beth Smith of Harrisburg and John Knudson and his wife, Crystal of Lititz, PA; two step-sons, Matthew Wright and his wife, Samantha of Aspers and Jesse Wright and his wife, Donna of Arendtsville; brother, William Joseph Sobotor and his wife, Diane of Harrisburg and thirteen grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Patricia Sobotor and his brother, Alphonse Robert Sobotor.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 38 North High St., Arendtsville, PA. Pastor Ben Siebert will officiate.

Mike was able to give back by donating his eyes for research.
