Morgan D. Godfrey, Sr. age 65, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at his home. Born Thursday, December 1, 1955 in Washington, DC, he was the son of James L. and Helen M. (Irwin) Godfrey of Newburg. Morgan graduated from Bedford High School in 1973. He was retired, but formerly employed by Ingersoll-Rand/Volvo, Inc. for 34 years. He was a member of and served as a deacon at the Oasis of Love Church, Shippensburg, and a committee person for the Cumberland County Republican Committee. He loved volunteering his time as a supervisor for the Creation and Uprise Christian Festivals and enjoyed music, travelling, hunting, and motorcycles. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy L. (Gerfen) Godfrey, and his parents. He is also survived by one daughter, Marie R. and husband Michael Fisher of York; three sons, Morgan D. Godfrey, Jr., of Chambersburg, Nathan J. and wife Rebecca Godfrey of Hershey, Jesse D. and wife Nicole Godfrey of Shippensburg, and seven grandchildren, Noah, Marley, Kole, Trinity, Taylor, Sydney, and Kylie; four sisters, Helen Williams of Fayetteville, Deborah Godfrey of Shippensburg, Sabrina Whitsel of Harrisburg, Cristen Wittig of Fulks Run, VA and three brothers, James D. "Bo" Godfrey of Bedford, Steven Godfrey of State College, and Robert Lough of Riverside, CA. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 13 at Oasis of Love Church, 303 South Washington Street, Shippensburg with Reverend Nancy A. Hudson officiating. Interment will be in Air Hill Cemetery. A time for viewing and visitation with the family will be held Friday, March 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services. In 2001, Morgan was blessed to do a missions trip to Prampram, Ghana, West Africa, which impacted his life tremendously.
