Nancy J. Hamman

May 8, 1936 — November 8, 2021

The world has one less feisty woman as Nancy Hamman, resident of Shippensburg, passed away on Monday, November 8, at 85 ½ years old. She spent her last days surrounded by family and being her witty and sentimental self. Anyone who knew Nancy knows she was delightfully ornery, had a great sense of humor, loved Jeopardy and game shows in general, was a cut-throat card player, and took great pride in her marriage and family. The last surviving of nine children and youngest child to C. Elmer Hetrick and Susan T. (Shingler) Hetrick, Nancy Jane Hetrick was born on May 8, 1936, in Mount Union, Huntington County, Pennsylvania. After graduating Mount Union Area High School, she worked as a seamstress for several years before marrying Nelson George Hamman and becoming a supportive military wife. They raised their four children together while living around the world in such places as the Philippines, Italy, Texas, Missouri, and Virginia, to name a few. She is survived by her husband of 65 years and love of her life, Nelson G. Hamman, her four children, Michael G. Hamman (Bonnie) of Carlisle, Jeffrey A. Hamman of Chesapeake, VA, P. Sue Kullen (Steve) of Port Republic, MD, and Karen J. Hamman of Bloomsburg, as well as two granddaughters, Jennifer L. Graham (Keith) and Celia J. Sondheimer and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind an abundance of beloved nieces and nephews and friends. Nancy was proceeded in death by her parents, Elmer and Susan, and eight siblings; Fredrick Hetrick (Priscilla), Lloyd Hetrick (Dorcas), Grace Sheibley (C. Eaton), Melvin Hetrick (Matilda), Betty Koons (Joseph), Joy Grove (Joseph), Robert Hetrick (Jean), and Ronald Hetrick (Beverly), and grandson Joshua Hamman. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. A celebration of her life will be held May 7, 2022 for her family and friends.
