Nancy L. Starry

Nancy L. Starry, age 86 of Gettysburg, passed away April 2, 2025. She was born August 24, 1938 in Philadelphia to the late Barney and Carey (Baker) Ditzler. Nancy was widowed by her husband, Gene, who passed away January 13, 2025.

Nancy graduated in the class of 1957 from Biglerville High School. She later went on to earn her credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She had a fulfilling career in healthcare and made a lasting impact on those she cared for. In her spare time, Nancy enjoyed gardening petunias, tiger lilies, daises and much more. Nancy also took pleasure in reading, mostly books about faith. Nancy also fell in love with babysitting her grandchildren. She created a sense of unconditional love that stayed with them long after they grew up. Beyond her love for her grandchildren she also had a passion for animals. Over the years she was happy to nurture many cats, dogs and even birds.

Nancy is survived by her cherished grandchildren, Serena Mendoza Garcia, Samantha Schwartz and Quentin Mendoza; loving nieces and nephews, Angela Mendoza, Kathleen Lloyd, Karen Starry, Steven Starry, Kimberly Starry, Ronald Fetrow, Elaine Morrison, David Slaybaugh, and Craig Slaybaugh.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Heidlersburg Church of the United Brethren in Christ with Pastor Craig Loewen officiating. A public viewing will take place from 11:00am until time of funeral service. Nancy will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may express online condolences at www.DuganFH.com.
